How do the monthly bid cycles work when I bid on a Recreation License Unit (RLU) in Washington State?
Each month is a separate bid cycle. At the end of each month, the hunt club that has submitted the highest bid on each RLU will be awarded the lease on that area. Once an RLU is leased, it will not be available again that year, so it is wise to submit your bids early to ensure that you get the RLU that you really want! The sooner your club successfully bids on a RLU, the sooner you can enjoy your RLU.
For example: If your club submits a bid for a RLU on March 5, and another club submits a higher bid on the same RLU on March 10, you will receive an email notification that you have been out bid. You can then go to the Web site and submit a higher bid for that RLU. This process goes on until the end of the month. There can be multiple bids and bidders in this process, and the club that has submitted the highest bid on March 31 at 8 p.m. Pacific time will be awarded the RLU. If there are no other bidders in March, you will get the RLU at the bid amount you submitted as long as it meets or exceeds the minimum bid price posted on the Web site. This same process is repeated each month through September.
